Possible Causes
Weak Wi‑Fi signal at thermostat, Router channel congestion, Outdated router firmware, Thermostat Wi‑Fi radio degradation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: This does not usually affect basic HVAC operation.
- Step 1 – Check signal strength: Use a smartphone at the thermostat location to verify Wi‑Fi strength. Aim for at least 2–3 bars.
- Step 2 – Move or upgrade router: Relocate the router closer to the thermostat or add a Wi‑Fi extender/mesh node.
- Step 3 – Update router firmware: Log into your router and install any available firmware updates.
- Step 4 – Change Wi‑Fi channel: Set the router to a less congested channel (1, 6, or 11 on 2.4 GHz).
- Step 5 – Reset thermostat network settings: Forget the network on the thermostat and reconnect with the correct password.
- Step 6 – If dropouts continue on a strong network: The thermostat’s Wi‑Fi module may be failing; replacement may be needed.
