Temperature Calibration / Sensor Drift
Thermostat shows incorrect indoor temperature (too high or too low compared to actual)

Possible Causes
Thermostat installed near drafts or heat sources, Internal sensor drift over time, Remote sensor misplacement, Heat from wall cavity affecting sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: Incorrect readings can cause comfort issues and short cycling.
- Step 1 – Compare with reference: Place a reliable thermometer near the thermostat and compare readings after 15 minutes.
- Step 2 – Adjust calibration: In the thermostat settings, use the temperature offset or calibration feature to correct minor differences (e.g., ±2°F).
- Step 3 – Improve location: Ensure the thermostat is not in direct sunlight, near supply vents, or above electronics. If necessary, relocate the thermostat to an interior wall.
- Step 4 – Seal wall opening: Remove the thermostat and seal any large gaps in the wall behind it to prevent drafts from affecting the sensor.
- Step 5 – Replace thermostat if drift is severe: If readings remain inaccurate even after calibration and location correction, the internal sensor may be failing.
