Possible Causes
Incorrect sensor type selected in settings (room vs floor), Corrupted calibration data in Tuya firmware, Internal NTC sensor drifted out of spec, Firmware bug after update
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No live wiring work is required for configuration steps, but turn off power if you open the device.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Open the thermostat settings menu or Tuya app and verify the correct sensor mode is selected (e.g., "Room sensor", "Floor sensor", or "Room + Floor").
- Check and reset any temperature offset or calibration values to 0°C/0°F.
- Perform a factory reset of the thermostat following the user manual, then reconfigure Wi-Fi and schedules.
- Compare the thermostat reading with a reliable thermometer placed nearby. If the reading is still far off, the internal sensor may be defective.
- If available, update the thermostat firmware via the Tuya app to the latest version.
- If none of these steps resolve the E7 error, replace the thermostat or its main PCB.
