Possible Causes
Thermostat installed near heat source (radiator, direct sun), Blocked ventilation slots on Tuya housing, Internal power supply overheating, High ambient temperature exceeding rating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before relocating or removing the thermostat.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Check the thermostat location: it should be away from direct sunlight, radiators, ovens, or other heat sources, and about 1.5m (5 ft) above the floor.
- Ensure that wall box and surrounding area allow air circulation; do not stuff insulation directly behind the thermostat.
- Clean any dust blocking the side or bottom ventilation slots using a soft brush or compressed air (power off).
- If the thermostat is controlling a high-current load (e.g., electric floor heating near its maximum rating), consider using an external contactor/relay and let the thermostat drive the relay coil only.
- If E8 persists in a cool, well-ventilated location, the internal power module or sensor may be faulty; replace the thermostat.
