Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display/touch panel and main board, Damaged capacitive touch sensor IC, Liquid ingress on front panel, Firmware communication timeout
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker before opening the thermostat.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Carefully remove the front cover or display module according to the Tuya model instructions.
- Inspect the flat ribbon cable or connector between the display/touch panel and the main PCB; reseat it firmly.
- Check for signs of moisture, condensation, or corrosion on the front panel; gently clean with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry fully.
- Inspect for physical cracks in the glass or touch surface; if damaged, the entire front module must be replaced.
- Restore power and test. If Er1 persists, the touch controller IC or main board is likely defective; replace the thermostat or the faulty module if available separately.
