Possible Causes
Debris or dirt under mechanical buttons, Warped front housing pressing on touch area, Damaged button dome contacts, Liquid spill causing continuous touch detection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before disassembling the front panel.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Remove the thermostat front cover to access the button or touch area.
- Inspect for visible debris, dust, or sticky residue around the buttons; clean carefully with a soft brush and isopropyl alcohol.
- Check that the front cover is not warped or overtightened against the wall, which can press on the touch surface; remount with correct spacing.
- Gently press each button to ensure it moves freely and returns; if a button feels stuck, clean or replace the front panel.
- After cleaning and reassembly, restore power and verify that Er2 is cleared.
- If the error remains, the button matrix or touch IC on the front PCB is likely faulty; replace the front module or entire thermostat.
