Possible Causes
Weak 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal at thermostat location, Router not compatible with 2.4 GHz-only devices, Incorrect Wi-Fi password stored, Tuya Wi-Fi module failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No high-voltage work is needed for network troubleshooting.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Verify that your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz network (Tuya thermostats typically do not support 5 GHz only).
- Move your router or add a Wi-Fi extender to improve signal strength near the thermostat.
- On the thermostat, enter pairing mode (often by holding a specific button until the Wi-Fi icon blinks) and re-add the device in the Tuya/Smart Life app.
- Ensure the correct Wi-Fi password is entered and that MAC address filtering is disabled on the router.
- Power-cycle the thermostat and router.
- If the Wi-Fi icon never appears or cannot blink for pairing, the internal Tuya Wi-Fi module may be defective; replace the thermostat or Wi-Fi module if it is a plug-in daughterboard.
