Room temperature reading unrealistic
Vaillant vSMART
Temperature Sensor Calibration or Failure
vSMART shows a room temperature far from reality (e.g., 5°C or 40°C indoors) without a specific numeric error code.

Possible Causes
Drifted internal NTC sensor, firmware calibration error, thermostat installed in abnormal microclimate (behind curtain, near heat source), electrical interference on sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps to correct reading:
- Verify with separate thermometer: Place an accurate thermometer near the thermostat and compare readings.
- Relocate thermostat: If installed near radiators, TVs, direct sunlight, or draughts, move the thermostat to an interior wall about 1.5 m above floor level.
- Reboot and update: Power cycle the thermostat and check for firmware updates via the app.
- Offset adjustment: If the app allows temperature offset, apply a small correction (e.g., ±1–2°C) to match the actual temperature.
If the reading is wildly inaccurate and does not respond to offset or relocation, the internal sensor is likely defective and the thermostat should be replaced.
