Possible Causes
Unbalanced radiators, stuck or incorrectly set TRVs, under‑sized radiators in cold rooms, thermostat located in an unrepresentative room
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps to improve comfort balance:
- Check TRVs: Ensure thermostatic radiator valves are open in cold rooms and not fully open in already warm rooms.
- Balance radiators: Adjust lockshield valves to restrict flow to radiators that heat quickly and allow more flow to those that stay cold. This is best done by a heating engineer.
- Thermostat location: Place the vSMART thermostat in a representative room (not the warmest or coldest) to avoid skewed control.
- Consider zoning: For persistent imbalance, add additional vSMART zones or room controls to separate areas with different heating needs.
Balancing and zoning are mechanical/hydraulic tasks; vSMART can only control what the system can physically deliver.
