Possible Causes
Old mechanical thermostat or timer still connected in parallel, Link wire left in place across boiler room stat terminals, Faulty Vokera receiver relay stuck closed, Incorrect wiring of smart thermostat contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate mains power to the boiler and any external controls before opening wiring compartments.
- Confirm thermostat status: Set the Vokera smart thermostat to OFF or a very low temperature. If the boiler still fires for CH, the issue is not with the thermostat's logic.
- Inspect boiler controls: Open the boiler's wiring centre or control panel and look for any legacy room thermostats, timers, or link wires that may be permanently calling for heat.
- Check receiver wiring: Ensure the Vokera receiver's heating relay is the only device bridging the boiler's room stat terminals. Remove any redundant links.
- Test relay operation: With power restored, toggle heating demand and listen for the receiver relay click. If the boiler runs regardless of relay state, the relay may be welded or wiring is incorrect.
- Correct wiring / replace receiver: Rewire according to the Vokera installation diagram. Replace the receiver if the relay is stuck.
