Possible Causes
Boiler flame sensor issue, Poor gas supply or combustion problem, Loose boiler-earth connection affecting flame sensing, Faulty boiler PCB reporting error to thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to adjust gas valves, burner, or internal boiler components. If you suspect a gas issue, contact a Gas Safe engineer immediately.
- Observe boiler display: Confirm that the boiler itself is showing A06 or a similar flame fault code. The thermostat is mirroring this status.
- Check for obvious issues: Ensure the gas supply is on, the gas meter has credit (if prepay), and other gas appliances work normally.
- Power reset: Turn off power to the boiler and thermostat at the fused spur for 30 seconds, then turn back on and request heat from the thermostat.
- If A06 returns: This is a boiler-side combustion or sensing fault. Do not continue resetting repeatedly. Contact a qualified heating engineer to inspect the boiler.
