Possible Causes

Faulty boiler flow NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness inside boiler, Boiler PCB misreading sensor, Poor electrical connection at boiler sensor plug

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not remove the boiler combustion cover. Work only on user-accessible controls. Internal sensor replacement must be done by a qualified engineer.

  • Confirm boiler code: Check the boiler display for A41 or a similar sensor error. The thermostat is only repeating the boiler's diagnostic.
  • Power cycle: Turn off the boiler at the fused spur for 30 seconds, then turn back on. Sometimes transient sensor errors clear after a reboot.
  • Check system temperature: Ensure the system is not overheating due to closed valves or blocked radiators, which can stress sensors.
  • If A41 persists: A boiler engineer will need to test and likely replace the flow NTC sensor or wiring. The thermostat itself is not usually at fault.
