Possible Causes
Damaged capacitive touch panel, Loose ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Firmware glitch affecting UI, Physical impact or cracked screen
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power to the thermostat before removing it from the wall. Do not attempt to open the thermostat casing beyond manufacturer instructions.
- Clean the surface: Wipe the thermostat screen with a soft, dry cloth to remove grease or moisture that may interfere with touch detection.
- Power reset: Remove the thermostat from its wall plate (if applicable) or turn off power at the fused spur for 30 seconds, then restore power.
- Check for damage: Inspect the screen for cracks or signs of impact. If the glass is damaged, the touch layer is likely compromised.
- Test basic functions: Try pressing different areas of the screen or physical buttons (if present). If only part of the screen is unresponsive, the touch panel is failing.
- Replace thermostat: UI hardware faults are not field-repairable. Replace the Vokera smart thermostat unit.
