Possible Causes

Receiver not powered or not in pairing mode, Excessive distance or metal obstacles between thermostat and receiver, RF interference from other devices, Faulty RF module in thermostat or receiver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate mains power before removing the receiver cover at the boiler. The receiver usually contains live 230V terminals.

  • Check receiver power: Confirm that the receiver's power LED is on. If not, check its wiring to the boiler or fused spur.
  • Enter pairing mode: Follow the Vokera instructions to put the receiver into pairing mode (often by pressing and holding a button until an LED flashes).
  • Move thermostat closer: Bring the thermostat within a few metres of the receiver with minimal walls in between and retry pairing.
  • Reduce interference: Keep the receiver away from large metal objects, consumer units, and other RF devices like Wi‑Fi routers or cordless phone bases.
  • Re-pair devices: On the thermostat, start the pairing process again. Wait for confirmation that pairing is successful.
  • If E08 persists: Either the thermostat RF module or the receiver is faulty. Replace the Vokera wireless receiver first; if still failing, replace the thermostat.
