Possible Causes

Incorrect wiring of DHW relay output at receiver, Stuck or failed DHW relay on receiver PCB, Misconfigured thermostat mode (CH-only vs CH+DHW), Faulty DHW demand signal to boiler

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: The receiver at the boiler contains live mains. Isolate power at the fused spur before opening the receiver or touching any wiring.

  • Check system type: Confirm whether your system actually uses the thermostat to control domestic hot water (e.g., with a cylinder and motorised valve). Many combi boilers control DHW internally and do not use a separate DHW channel.
  • Verify settings: In the thermostat menu, ensure the system type is correctly set (e.g., combi vs system boiler with cylinder). Disable DHW control if not used.
  • Inspect receiver wiring: With power off, open the receiver and check that the DHW relay contacts are wired correctly to the cylinder valve or boiler DHW terminals, if applicable.
  • Test relay operation: Restore power and request hot water via the thermostat. Listen for a click from the receiver. If no click and E10 is shown, the relay may be faulty.
  • Replace receiver: If wiring and configuration are correct but E10 persists, replace the Vokera receiver unit.
