Possible Causes

Incorrect minimum on/off time settings, Loose wiring causing intermittent contact, Faulty relay on receiver PCB, Control mode conflict between thermostat and boiler

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate mains power before opening the receiver or touching wiring.

  • Check control settings: In the thermostat menu, increase the minimum on/off time or enable TPI mode to prevent rapid cycling.
  • Inspect wiring: Tighten all terminal screws in the receiver and boiler room stat terminals. Ensure no strands are loose or touching adjacent terminals.
  • Listen to receiver: With power on, request heat and listen for rapid clicking. If present despite stable wiring and settings, the relay may be failing.
  • Switch to OpenTherm (if available): If your boiler supports OpenTherm, consider using bus control instead of relay switching to reduce wear.
  • Replace receiver: Persistent relay chatter usually requires receiver replacement.
