Possible Causes
W2/Aux wire not connected at Wyze base, W2/Aux wire loose at furnace or air handler board, Incorrect configuration of heat stages in Wyze app, Open W2 conductor in thermostat cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the HVAC system at the breaker.
- Confirm system type: In the Wyze app, verify that the thermostat is configured for the correct number of heat stages and that W2/Aux is enabled if your system uses it.
- Inspect W2/Aux at thermostat: Remove the display and check that the W2/Aux wire is fully inserted into the correct terminal on the Wyze wall plate.
- Check W2/Aux at furnace/air handler: At the control board, locate the W2 or Aux terminal and ensure the same colored wire is securely attached.
- Continuity test: With power off and W2/Aux disconnected at both ends, test continuity of the conductor. Replace or rerun the cable if open.
- Restore power and test: Reconnect wiring, restore power, and force a call for second-stage or auxiliary heat (often by setting a much higher setpoint). The E6 code should clear once the circuit is detected.
