Possible Causes

Loose Y1 wire at Wyze thermostat, Y wire disconnected at furnace or air handler, Broken Y conductor in thermostat cable, Float switch or safety device open in Y circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to both the furnace/air handler and outdoor condenser at the breaker.

  • Inspect Y1 at thermostat: Remove the display and ensure the Y1 wire is fully seated in the Y1 terminal.
  • Check Y at furnace/air handler: At the control board, confirm the same colored wire is attached to the Y terminal and that any inline float switches are not tripped (check condensate pan for water).
  • Bypass float switch (temporary test only): If a condensate float switch is present, you may temporarily jumper around it to test if the AC starts. If it does, address the condensate drainage issue and reset or replace the float switch.
  • Continuity test: With power off and Y disconnected at both ends, test continuity of the Y conductor. Replace the cable if open.
