Possible Causes
Loose or disconnected W1 wire at thermostat, Loose W wire at furnace control board, Broken W conductor in thermostat cable, Misconfigured system type in Wyze app
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off furnace power at the breaker before touching wiring.
- Verify thermostat mode: Ensure the Wyze thermostat is set to Heat and the setpoint is above room temperature.
- Inspect W1 at thermostat: Remove the display and confirm the W1 wire is fully seated in the W1 terminal.
- Check W at furnace board: At the control board, ensure the same colored wire is attached to the W terminal and the screw is tight.
- Bypass test (advanced): With power on and thermostat removed, briefly jumper R to W at the furnace control board. If the furnace starts, the issue is in the thermostat or cable. If it does not, the furnace has an internal issue and a technician is needed.
- Check Wyze configuration: In the app, confirm the system is set as conventional heat (if applicable) and that W1 is recognized.
