Thermostat emits a buzzing or humming noise, especially when calling for heat or cool.

Safety first: Turn off HVAC power at the breaker before removing the thermostat display.

• Confirm source of noise: Place your ear near the thermostat to verify the sound is from the thermostat and not from ducts or the furnace.
• Reseat and pad wall plate: Remove the display and ensure the wall plate is firmly mounted. Add a thin foam gasket behind the plate to reduce vibration transfer from the wall.
• Check transformer sizing: Have a technician verify that the furnace transformer is properly sized and not overloaded, which can cause audible hum.
• Replace thermostat if noise persists: If the buzzing is clearly from the thermostat and does not change with transformer replacement or mounting adjustments, replace the Wyze thermostat display.
