Possible Causes
Dust or debris blocking humidity sensor vents, Sensor drift due to prolonged high humidity, Internal sensor failure on Wyze board, Firmware bug affecting humidity reporting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off HVAC power at the breaker before removing the thermostat display.
- Clean sensor vents: Remove the display and gently clean any dust from the small vents with a dry, soft brush or compressed air. Do not use liquids.
- Compare with hygrometer: Use a separate hygrometer to compare humidity readings. If the Wyze reading is off by a consistent amount, note the offset.
- Reboot and update firmware: Reattach the display, restore power, and check for firmware updates in the Wyze app.
- Replace thermostat if sensor failed: If the humidity reading remains stuck or wildly inaccurate, the internal sensor is likely failed and the thermostat display should be replaced.
