Possible Causes
Gas furnace ignition failure, Heat pump configured as conventional in Wyze app, Reversing valve O/B setting incorrect, Failed gas valve or igniter (equipment-side)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off furnace power and gas supply before opening furnace panels. If you smell gas, leave the area and contact your gas utility immediately.
- Check system type and O/B setting: In the Wyze app, confirm whether your system is a heat pump or conventional furnace and that the O/B reversing valve setting matches the equipment.
- Observe furnace ignition (advanced): With panels in place and power on, call for heat and watch through the viewing port. If the inducer starts but there is no ignition, the issue is within the furnace (igniter, flame sensor, gas valve) and requires a technician.
- Verify W wiring: Ensure W1 (and W2 if present) are correctly wired at both thermostat and furnace.
- Test emergency heat (heat pump): If you have a heat pump, switch to Emergency Heat mode. If warm air appears, the issue may be with the outdoor unit or reversing valve.
