Possible Causes

Faulty engine governor, Sticking throttle linkage, Defective engine speed sensor (magnetic pickup), Controller calibration error

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect the battery, and disable automatic start. Do not attempt to run the unit with overspeed faults unresolved.

  • Inspect throttle linkage: With the engine off, move the throttle lever by hand. It should move smoothly and return via the governor spring. Clean any dirt or corrosion and lubricate pivot points lightly.
  • Check governor spring and linkage: Look for broken or disconnected governor springs or rods between the governor arm and throttle. Replace damaged parts with A-iPower-compatible components.
  • Inspect speed sensor: Locate the magnetic pickup or RPM sensor near the flywheel. Ensure it is securely mounted and the connector is clean and tight. Check for metal debris on the sensor tip and clean gently.
  • Controller settings: If you have access to the A-iPower service menu, verify that the rated frequency and engine speed parameters match the model specifications. Do not change settings without the service manual.
  • If E04 recurs: The mechanical governor or electronic control module may be malfunctioning. Overspeed can cause catastrophic damage; contact a qualified generator technician for adjustment and testing.
