Possible Causes
Clogged air filter, Restricted exhaust, Heavy load exceeding generator capacity, Weak engine (fuel or compression issues)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect the battery, and isolate the generator from the electrical system (open the main breaker or transfer switch).
- Reduce load: Ensure that the connected load does not exceed the standby generator's rated kW. Turn off large appliances and reset the generator. If E05 clears under lighter load, consult an electrician to balance or reduce loads.
- Check air filter: Open the service panel and remove the air filter element. If it is dirty or oil-soaked, replace it with an OEM A-iPower air filter. Do not run without a filter.
- Inspect exhaust: Verify that the exhaust outlet and muffler are not blocked by nests, debris, or ice. Clear obstructions and ensure proper clearance around the exhaust.
- Fuel quality: Old or contaminated fuel can cause poor combustion and low power. Drain stale fuel from the tank and carburetor or fuel rail and refill with fresh fuel meeting A-iPower specifications.
- If E05 persists with light load: There may be deeper engine issues (compression, ignition, or fuel delivery). Professional diagnosis with compression and fuel pressure tests is recommended.
