Possible Causes

Discharged starting battery, Failed battery charger module, Loose or corroded battery terminals, Parasitic drain from control system

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disable auto-start. Wear eye protection when working around batteries.

  • Inspect battery terminals: Check for corrosion (white/green buildup) on the battery posts and cable clamps. Clean with a baking soda and water solution, rinse, dry, and tighten connections securely.
  • Measure battery voltage: With a multimeter, measure across the battery terminals. A healthy 12 V battery should read around 12.6 V at rest. If below 12.0 V, charge the battery with an appropriate charger.
  • Check built-in charger: Confirm that the A-iPower battery charger/maintainer is receiving AC power (check its fuse or breaker). Measure battery voltage with AC power applied; it should rise to around 13.4–13.8 V.
  • Look for drains: Ensure no aftermarket accessories are connected directly to the battery. If the battery repeatedly discharges, a parasitic draw or failing battery is likely.
  • Replace battery if needed: Install a new battery that meets the cold cranking amps (CCA) rating specified by A-iPower for your standby model.
