Possible Causes

Weak battery unable to supply cranking current, Faulty starter solenoid, Worn starter motor, Loose starter cable connections

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disable auto-start. Disconnect the negative battery cable before working on the starter circuit.

  • Check battery condition: Even if voltage seems adequate, a weak battery may drop under load. Have the battery load-tested or temporarily connect a known-good battery of the correct rating.
  • Inspect cables: Follow the positive cable from the battery to the starter solenoid and starter motor. Tighten any loose terminals and clean corrosion.
  • Listen for solenoid click: During a start attempt (with safety precautions), listen for a distinct click from the starter solenoid. No click suggests a solenoid or control wiring issue.
  • Check starter fuse/relay: In the control panel, locate the starter relay and associated fuse. Replace blown fuses with the same rating and reseat the relay.
  • If E10 continues: The starter motor or solenoid may need replacement. Due to confined spaces and heavy cables, professional service is recommended.
