Possible Causes
Failed intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, Faulty manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, Disconnected sensor harness, Contaminated sensor element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect the battery. Allow the engine to cool.
- Locate sensors: Identify the IAT sensor (often in the air filter housing or intake tube) and MAP sensor (on the intake manifold) as per the A-iPower engine layout.
- Inspect connectors: Check that each sensor connector is fully seated and free of corrosion or oil contamination. Clean and reseat.
- Check air filter: Replace a dirty air filter that can cause abnormal readings and poor performance.
- Clear code and test: Reconnect the battery, clear E17 if possible, and run the generator. If the code returns, the sensor may be defective.
- Replace faulty sensor: Install an OEM-spec IAT or MAP sensor compatible with your A-iPower standby generator engine.
