Possible Causes
Failed exhaust temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring, Excessive exhaust backpressure, Overloaded engine causing high exhaust temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect the battery, and allow the exhaust system to cool completely before touching it.
- Inspect exhaust outlet: Ensure the exhaust pipe and muffler outlet are not blocked by debris, nests, or snow. Clear any obstructions.
- Check exhaust sensor: Locate the exhaust temperature sensor on the exhaust manifold or pipe. Inspect the wiring and connector for heat damage or corrosion.
- Reduce load: If E19 occurs only under heavy load, verify that the total load is within the generator's rating. Overloading can raise exhaust temperature.
- Replace sensor if faulty: If the sensor body is cracked or wiring is brittle, replace it with an OEM exhaust temperature sensor.
- If E19 persists: There may be internal engine or exhaust restrictions requiring professional diagnosis.
