Possible Causes

Loose or damaged oil drain plug, Leaking oil filter seal, Crankcase gasket failure, Valve cover gasket leak

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect the battery, and allow the engine to cool. Oil may be hot.

  • Locate source: Clean the engine with a degreaser and run briefly to identify the leak source. Do not run long with low oil.
  • Check drain plug: Tighten the oil drain plug to the specified torque and replace its gasket or washer if damaged.
  • Inspect oil filter: Ensure the oil filter is hand-tight plus a small additional turn. Replace the filter and its gasket if leaking.
  • Gasket replacement: For valve cover or crankcase leaks, replace the gasket using OEM parts. This may require partial disassembly.
  • Refill and test: Top up oil to the correct level and monitor for further leaks.
