Possible Causes
Faulty start relay, Open neutral safety or crank inhibit input, Failed starter solenoid, Broken starter wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the generator cannot start unexpectedly. Remove battery negative if working on starter wiring.
- Listen for clicks: When pressing START, listen for a click from the start relay or solenoid. No sound suggests control circuit fault.
- Check start relay: In the Aksa control panel, locate the start relay. Verify coil voltage when start is commanded. Replace if coil energizes but contacts do not close.
- Inspect starter solenoid wiring: Tighten all terminals at the starter. Repair any burnt or broken cables.
- Bypass test (qualified only): Briefly bridge the solenoid main terminals to see if the starter turns. If it does, the solenoid is faulty; if not, the starter motor may need replacement.
