Possible Causes
Open or shorted alternator stator windings, Failed automatic voltage regulator (AVR), Loose rotor excitation wiring, Defective main circuit breaker stuck open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the generator OFF, open the main breaker, and disconnect the battery. Verify there is no backfeed from the utility.
- Check main breaker: Locate the main AC breaker inside the All Power America generator enclosure. Ensure it is not tripped. Reset it fully OFF then ON. If it will not stay set, the breaker may be faulty.
- Inspect alternator connections: Remove the alternator access cover and inspect the stator and rotor leads going to the AVR and control board. Tighten any loose terminals and look for burned connectors.
- Test stator windings: With the generator off and isolated, measure resistance between stator output leads and to ground. Open circuits or shorts to ground indicate a failed stator.
- Check AVR: The AVR is usually a small module mounted near the alternator. Inspect for burned components or melted potting. If the stator tests good but there is no output, replace the AVR with the correct All Power America part number.
- Retest: Reconnect the battery, start the generator, and measure AC voltage at the output lugs with a meter. Confirm that E07 clears and voltage is within specification.
