Possible Causes
Incorrect fuel mixture (LPG/NG pressure issue), Clogged carburetor jets, Weak spark, Low compression due to engine wear
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect the battery. Shut off the fuel supply at the tank or regulator before servicing fuel components.
- Verify fuel type and pressure: For LPG/NG All Power America standby generators, confirm that the correct fuel is selected on the regulator and that supply pressure matches the specification. Have a qualified gas technician measure and adjust pressure if needed.
- Clean carburetor: Remove the carburetor bowl and jets. Clean with carburetor cleaner and compressed air to remove varnish and debris. Reassemble with new gaskets if necessary.
- Check spark and plug condition: Inspect and replace spark plugs as needed. Ensure strong spark is present as described in the ignition failure procedure.
- Compression test: If fuel and spark are good, perform a compression test on the engine cylinders. Low compression indicates internal engine wear or valve issues that may require professional service.
