Possible Causes
Load exceeds generator rating, Short circuit on load side, Incorrect current transformer (CT) ratio or wiring, Faulty breaker trip unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Overcurrent can indicate a serious fault. Inspect for burning smells or visible damage at the ATS and load panels before re‑energizing.
- Review load: Check the total connected load and recent additions. Compare to the Atlas Copco generator kVA rating. Reduce non‑essential loads.
- Inspect for shorts: Look for tripped downstream breakers or blown fuses. A short in a branch circuit can cause the generator main to trip.
- Check CT wiring: In the control panel, verify CT polarity and wiring to the controller match the wiring diagram. Incorrect CT ratio or reversed polarity can cause false overcurrent readings.
- Test breaker: If the controller does not indicate high current but the breaker trips mechanically, the breaker trip unit may be faulty and require replacement.
After resolving the cause, reset the E014 alarm and perform a controlled load test.
