Possible Causes
Air in fuel system, Clogged fuel filters, Engine stop solenoid not energizing, Low compression due to wear
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disable automatic start and ensure the generator cannot start unexpectedly while you work.
- Confirm basics: Verify fuel level, battery voltage, and that the emergency stop is reset.
- Bleed fuel system: Loosen bleed screws on the fuel filter and injection pump. Operate the manual priming pump until fuel free of air bubbles flows, then retighten.
- Replace fuel filters: If service is overdue or fuel contamination is suspected, replace primary and secondary fuel filters.
- Check stop solenoid: Observe the fuel stop solenoid or actuator during crank. It should pull to the run position. If not, test for voltage and replace the solenoid if defective.
- Compression check (advanced): If the engine has high hours and still will not start, a compression test by a technician may be required.
