Possible Causes
LP tank below minimum level, Faulty tank level sender or wiring, Frozen or restricted LP regulator, Undersized gas piping causing pressure drop
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the controller to OFF. Do not smoke or create sparks near fuel.
- Check tank level: Read the LP tank gauge. If below the manufacturer-recommended minimum (often 20–30%), schedule a refill.
- Inspect regulator: Examine the primary and secondary LP regulators for frost buildup or damage. Ensure vent openings are clear.
- Level sender and wiring: On systems with a wired tank level sender, inspect the sender and cable for damage. Replace the sender if readings are obviously incorrect.
- Gas piping: Have a gas technician verify that the supply line size and pressure meet Briggs & Stratton specifications during generator operation.
- Clear the code: After restoring adequate fuel and correcting issues, cycle the controller to OFF then AUTO and run a full exercise cycle.
