Possible Causes
Loose or cracked fuel line fittings, Leaking carburetor bowl gasket, Faulty LP/NG regulator diaphragm, Cracked fuel shutoff solenoid body
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately turn controller to OFF, shut off gas supply at the main valve, and avoid sparks or flames. Ventilate the area.
- Locate leak source: Use a soap-and-water solution on LP/NG fittings to identify bubbles indicating leaks. For liquid fuel, visually trace wet areas.
- Tighten or replace fittings: Carefully tighten loose flare or threaded fittings. Replace any cracked flexible hoses with Briggs & Stratton-approved fuel hose.
- Carburetor leaks: If fuel drips from the carburetor, replace the bowl gasket and inspect the float needle for debris.
- Regulator issues: If the regulator vents gas, replace the regulator assembly and ensure proper orientation and venting.
- Test for leaks: After repairs, turn gas back on and recheck all joints with leak-detection solution before restarting.
