Possible Causes
Low oil level triggering shutdown, Faulty oil pressure switch intermittently opening, Loose engine ground connection, Defective run relay in controller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn controller to OFF and allow engine to cool before checking oil.
- Check oil level: Verify oil is at the full mark on the dipstick. Top off with recommended oil if low.
- Inspect oil pressure switch wiring: Wiggle the connector and harness at the oil pressure switch while observing for intermittent shutdowns during a test run. Repair any loose or corroded connections.
- Engine ground: Locate the main engine-to-frame ground strap. Clean both contact points and tighten securely.
- Controller relays: If the engine loses power as if the ignition is cut, the internal run relay may be failing. Replacement of the controller may be required by a technician.
