• Inspect governor linkage: With the engine off, move the throttle/governor linkage by hand to ensure it moves freely and returns to idle.
• Observe actuator: On electronic governors, watch the actuator during operation for smooth movement. Jerky or no movement suggests failure.

Governor calibration and speed adjustment should follow CAT procedures and typically require a technician with a frequency meter and load bank.
