Possible Causes
Failed block heater, Block heater power cord unplugged, Tripped GFCI on block heater outlet, Low ambient temperature below Centurion design range
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the generator to OFF and disconnect external AC power to the block heater circuit before inspection.
- Verify block heater power: Locate the block heater cord on the side of the engine. Ensure it is firmly plugged into a powered outlet. Check the outlet with a lamp or tester.
- Check GFCI: If the block heater is on a GFCI outlet, press RESET. If it trips again, suspect a faulty heater element.
- Inspect cord and element: Look for damage, burns, or cracks in the block heater cord and where it enters the engine block. Do not operate if damaged.
- Allow preheat time: In very cold weather, leave the unit in AUTO with block heater powered for several hours before a test run.
When to call a technician: If the block heater does not draw current or repeatedly trips the GFCI, a technician should replace the Centurion block heater element and verify proper installation.
