Possible Causes
Exceeded maximum crank attempts due to prior fault, Stuck start relay on Centurion control board, Faulty start signal from controller, Safety interlock active (e.g., low oil, high temp)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the generator is in OFF and that no automatic start will occur during inspection.
- Clear underlying faults: Check the display for any active alarms (low oil, overcrank, etc.) and correct them first.
- Power cycle controller: Turn the control switch to OFF, disconnect the battery negative for 1 minute, then reconnect and set to AUTO.
- Check start relay: Listen for a click from the starter relay when a manual start is commanded. If no click, the relay or control board may be faulty.
- Verify safety switches: Ensure all access doors and panels with safety switches are fully closed and latched.
When to call a technician: If lockout persists with no active faults, a technician should test the start circuit, including the Centurion start relay and control board outputs.
