E10
Champion
Low Battery Voltage / Battery Charge Fault
Controller displays E10, generator shuts down during cranking or shortly after start

Possible Causes
Aged or sulfated battery, failed battery charger, loose charger leads, excessive cranking without start
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Set the controller to OFF and open the generator AC breaker. Avoid shorting battery terminals.
- Measure battery voltage: Use a multimeter to check battery voltage at rest. If below 12.0 V, charge the battery with an external charger or replace it if more than 3–5 years old.
- Inspect onboard charger: Locate the Champion battery charger module inside the generator. Confirm its AC supply fuse or breaker is not tripped and that its DC leads are firmly attached to the battery.
- Check charger output: With utility power present and the generator off, measure voltage at the battery. It should be around 13.2–13.6 V if the charger is working.
- Clean terminals: Remove corrosion from battery posts and cable ends with a wire brush. Reinstall and tighten securely.
- Limit crank attempts: Avoid repeated long crank cycles; allow the starter to cool between attempts to prevent further battery drain.
If the charger has no output with proper AC supply, replace the Champion battery charger module.
