Controller displays E18, generator shuts down during weekly exercise cycle only

Safety first: Set controller to OFF before changing settings. Do not work on live electrical components.

• Review exercise settings: Enter the controller menu and verify the scheduled exercise day, time, and duration are set correctly per the Champion manual.
• Change exercise type: If your controller supports it, switch between loaded and unloaded exercise to see if the fault is load-related.
• Check battery and charger: Confirm the battery is healthy and the charger is maintaining proper float voltage, as marginal batteries often fail during exercise starts.
• Run manual test: Start the generator in MANUAL mode at the same time of day as the scheduled exercise and observe for any abnormal behavior.
• Update firmware (dealer): If E18 occurs only in exercise mode and all hardware checks out, a controller firmware update from a Champion dealer may be required.

Exercise faults should be corrected promptly, as they may indicate the unit will not run properly during an actual outage.
