Possible Causes
Cracked radiator or hose, Loose hose clamps, Leaking water pump seal, Failed coolant drain plug or block plug
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the engine to cool completely. Disable automatic start. Hot coolant can cause burns.
- Locate leak: Follow coolant hoses and radiator surfaces to find the source. Look for dried coolant residue (white/green crust).
- Hoses and clamps: Tighten loose clamps and replace bulging or cracked hoses with the correct Cummins parts.
- Radiator and pump: Inspect the radiator core for damage and the water pump weep hole for leakage. Replace components if leaking.
- Refill and bleed: After repairs, refill with the correct coolant mixture and bleed air from the system per the manual.
- Test run: Run the generator and recheck for leaks.
