Possible Causes
Closed gas shutoff valve, Insufficient gas supply pressure, Faulty primary gas regulator at tank or meter, Defective secondary regulator at generator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and close the gas supply valve. Work only in well‑ventilated areas and never use open flames to check for leaks.
- Verify gas valves: Confirm that the manual shutoff valves at the tank/meter and at the generator are fully open.
- Check gas supply: For LPG, ensure the tank has adequate fuel and is not frozen. For NG, verify with your gas provider that service pressure is within spec for standby generators.
- Inspect regulators: Examine the primary and secondary regulators for icing, physical damage, or signs of vent blockage. Clear any debris from regulator vents.
- Leak test: With gas turned on, apply a soap‑water solution to fittings and watch for bubbles indicating leaks. Tighten or re‑seal fittings as needed, then retest.
- Professional pressure test: If E14 persists, have a licensed gas technician measure inlet and outlet pressures at the generator and replace a faulty regulator with a DuroMax‑approved model.
