Possible Causes
Worn carburetor bowl gasket, Stuck float causing overflow, Cracked fuel hose at carburetor inlet, Loose fuel line clamp
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, close the fuel valve, disconnect battery negative, and allow the area to ventilate. Do not smoke or use open flames.
- Identify leak source: Wipe the area dry and observe where fuel reappears (bowl gasket, hose connection, or carburetor body).
- Replace bowl gasket: Remove the carburetor bowl, clean the mating surfaces, and install a new gasket. Tighten the bowl screw evenly.
- Check float and needle: While the bowl is off, inspect the float and needle valve for wear or debris. Clean and ensure the float moves freely and shuts off fuel.
- Replace fuel hose: If the hose is cracked or hardened, cut back to good hose or replace entirely with fuel‑rated line and new clamps.
- Test for leaks: Open the fuel valve and watch for leaks before restarting the generator.
