Possible Causes
Tripped or faulty main breaker, Loose output lug connections, Failed AVR, Open stator winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, open the main breaker, disconnect battery negative, and verify zero voltage at the output before touching wiring.
- Check breakers: Ensure the generator main breaker and any individual output breakers are in the ON position. Reset if tripped.
- Inspect output lugs: Tighten all connections at the generator output terminal block. Look for burned insulation or discoloration.
- Test with meter: Start the generator and measure voltage directly at the generator terminals. If zero, suspect AVR or alternator issues.
- AVR replacement: If wiring is intact and there is no output, replace the AVR with a DuroMax‑specified unit.
- Stator check: If a new AVR does not restore output, the stator may be open or shorted and will require professional testing and replacement.
