Possible Causes
Partially clogged fuel filter, Blocked fuel tank vent, Debris in carburetor main jet, Weak fuel pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, close the fuel valve, and disconnect battery negative before opening the fuel system.
- Check tank vent: Open the fuel cap and listen for a vacuum hiss. If present, the vent may be blocked. Clean or replace the cap.
- Replace fuel filter: Install a new DuroMax‑compatible in‑line fuel filter, ensuring correct flow direction.
- Clean carburetor jet: Remove the carburetor bowl and carefully remove the main jet. Clean it with carburetor cleaner and compressed air; do not enlarge the orifice.
- Fuel pump test: On models with an electric fuel pump, verify fuel flow by disconnecting the line at the carburetor and briefly cranking the engine into a container. Replace the pump if flow is weak or absent.
