Possible Causes
Loose oil drain plug, Damaged oil filter seal, Crankcase gasket seepage, Overfilled crankcase causing breather discharge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, allow the engine to cool, and disconnect battery negative. Clean up spilled oil to prevent slips.
- Check oil level: Verify oil is not overfilled. Drain excess if above the FULL mark.
- Inspect drain plug: Tighten the oil drain plug to the specified torque. Replace the crush washer if equipped.
- Oil filter: Check that the oil filter is snug and the gasket is not pinched. If leaking, remove the filter, clean the mounting surface, and install a new filter with a light film of oil on the gasket.
- Gasket leaks: If oil appears at the crankcase seam or around the crankshaft seals, monitor the leak. Minor seepage can be cleaned and watched; significant leaks require gasket or seal replacement by a technician.
