Possible Causes
Severely clogged air filter, Blocked intake duct or enclosure vent, Collapsed intake hose, Foreign object in airbox
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect the battery. Allow the engine to cool before opening the airbox.
- Remove and inspect air filter: Open the air filter housing and remove the element. If it is heavily soiled, wet, or damaged, replace it with the correct DuroStar filter.
- Check airbox and ducts: Inspect the airbox for leaves, nests, or debris. Clean thoroughly. Follow the intake duct to ensure it is not crushed or blocked.
- Inspect enclosure vents: Make sure the generator housing intake vents are clear of snow, dust, or obstructions. Maintain required clearance around the unit.
- Test run without filter (briefly): For diagnosis only, run the engine for a few seconds without the filter to see if it runs smoothly. Do not operate under load or for extended periods without a filter.
- Reinstall new filter: Install a new air filter and secure the housing. Clear E16 and test the generator under light load.
