Possible Causes
Failed onboard battery charger, Open charging fuse, Broken charge winding in alternator, Loose charging harness connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect the battery before inspecting the charging circuit.
- Check charging fuse: Locate the DC charging fuse in the control panel or near the charger module. Test with a multimeter and replace if blown with the same rating.
- Inspect charger module: Examine the DuroStar battery charger for signs of overheating or damage. Verify AC input and DC output connections are tight.
- Measure charge voltage: Start the generator and measure battery voltage. It should rise to approximately 13.2–14.4V. If it remains at static battery voltage, the charger or alternator charge winding may be faulty.
- Check harness: Trace the charging wires from the alternator/charger to the battery. Repair any damaged or corroded connectors.
- Replace charger if needed: If AC input is present and wiring is intact but no DC output is measured, replace the battery charger module with a DuroStar‑approved unit.
